Maximus loved his wheelchair but didn’t like having his legs unnaturally hoisted up in the leg stirrups. It felt as if I was prematurely giving up on his legs by hanging them. There was still some mobility, range of motion and a need to stimulate the paws and legs to delay the progression of degenerative myelopathy. I wanted Maximus to feel like himself as much as possible while still having fun! But without the stirrups, his paws were knuckling and dragging causing holes on his boots and his paws to bleed. (Oh boy, I spent so much money on replacing boots!) There was no other option available; as a result, I applied my experience in product development and invented the first-ever, patent pending canine roller skates.
Maximus Skates was developed over many years on hiking adventures and long walks on New York City streets with the level of detail that only an overly-loving pawrent could have. And since then, our products have been vet approved and enjoyed by pups worldwide. Proudly made in the USA, they provide an alternative option to stirrups for all stages of leg paralysis meeting every need that I had for my Maximus to keep on racing.
This is everything that I wished for Maximus which is now available to you with the same care and attentiveness. He gained more time to enjoy his legs even with the tiniest bit of mobility and so will your fur baby. I hope you will feel the joy that I felt watching him gliding along with a smile!
Love - Hanna (Maximus’ mommy)
